Studia mongolistyczne prowadzone s\u0105 na Wydziale Kultur Azji i Afryki (dawnym Wydziale Orientalistycznym) UW od 1950 roku, kierowane pocz\u0105tkowo przez prof. dr hab. Mariana Lewickiego (1908\u20131955) w ramach Katedry Lud\u00f3w Azji \u015arodkowej. Nast\u0119pc\u0105 profesora Lewickiego zosta\u0142 prof. dr hab. Stanis\u0142aw Ka\u0142u\u017cy\u0144ski, kt\u00f3ry pe\u0142ni\u0142 t\u0119 funkcj\u0119 do 1985 roku. To za jego kierownictwa, w 1964 roku, Katedr\u0119 przemianowano na Zak\u0142ad Lud\u00f3w Azji \u015arodkowej.<\/p>\n
W 1975 roku mongolistyka Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego po\u0142\u0105czy\u0142a si\u0119 z turkologi\u0105 przybieraj\u0105c obecn\u0105 nazw\u0119 i struktur\u0119. Prof. dr hab. Stanis\u0142aw Godzi\u0144ski pe\u0142ni\u0142 funkcj\u0119 kierownika Zak\u0142adu do 2003 roku, a dr hab. Agata Bareja-Starzy\u0144ska, profesor uczelni do roku 2025. Obecnie kierownikiem Zak\u0142adu jest dr Jan Rogala.<\/p>\n
W miar\u0119 rozwoju sekcji pole naukowo-badawcze rozszerzy\u0142o si\u0119 na j\u0119zyk i kultur\u0119 Tybetu tworz\u0105c now\u0105 specjalno\u015b\u0107 \u2014 tybetologi\u0119.<\/p>\n
Od roku akademickiego 2008\/2009 prowadzone s\u0105 studia dwustopniowe (trzyletnie I stopnia oraz dwuletnie II stopnia) na kierunku orientalistyka, mongolistyka i tybetologia. Studia umo\u017cliwiaj\u0105 poznanie dziej\u00f3w Azji \u015arodkowej, w tym Mongolii i Tybetu, u\u017cywanych w przesz\u0142o\u015bci i obecnie j\u0119zyk\u00f3w (mongolski, tybeta\u0144ski) oraz wielu aspekt\u00f3w kultury, w tym religii, literatury i sztuki. HISTORY<\/p>\n
The Section of the Peoples of Inner Asia is the heir to a long tradition of Altaic and Tibetan studies, initiated as early as in Tsarist Russia by J\u00f3zef Kowalewski. Among the distinguished scholars representing this field were W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kotwicz, Marian Lewicki, and Stanis\u0142aw Ka\u0142u\u017cy\u0144ski. Mongolian studies have been conducted at the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures (formerly the Faculty of Oriental Studies) of the University of Warsaw since 1950, initially under the direction of Prof. Marian Lewicki (1908\u20131955) in the Department of the Peoples of Inner Asia. Professor Lewicki was succeeded by Prof. Stanis\u0142aw Ka\u0142u\u017cy\u0144ski, who held this position until 1985. During his tenure, in 1964, the Department was renamed the Section of the Peoples of Inner Asia.<\/p>\n
In 1975, Mongolian studies at the University of Warsaw merged with Turkology, adopting their current name and structure. Prof. Stanis\u0142aw Godzi\u0144ski served as head of the Section until 2003, and then Prof. Agata Bareja-Starzy\u0144ska until 2025. The current head of the Section is Dr. Jan Rogala.<\/p>\n
As the section developed, its academic and research scope expanded to include the language and culture of Tibet, creating a new specialization\u2014Tibetology.<\/p>\n
Since the 2008\/2009 academic year, a two-cycle programme has been offered (a three-year first-cycle and a two-year second-cycle programme) in the field of Oriental Studies, Mongolian Studies, and Tibetology. The studies enable students to learn about the history of Inner Asia, including Mongolia and Tibet, the languages used in the past and today (Mongolian, Tibetan), and many aspects of culture, including religion, literature, and art.
